2026 Childcare Provider Appreciation Dinner

The Childcare Coalition of Dodge City hosted a successful Childcare Provider Appreciation Dinner on Friday, May 8, in recognition of National Childcare Provider Appreciation Day, bringing together childcare professionals, community partners, and local supporters to celebrate the important role providers play in Ford County.

Held in the Strobel Room at the Municipal Services Building, the event welcomed 58 childcare providers, along with guests, for a total attendance of 108 people for an evening dedicated to honoring those who care for and educate young children every day.

Mayor Daniel Pogue welcomed attendees and thanked providers for their dedication and service to children, families, and the community.

Providers enjoyed a steak dinner featuring steaks generously donated by Cargill and catered by S&P Catering. Throughout the evening, providers also received giveaways and door prizes donated by numerous local businesses and organizations, ensuring every provider left with a gift as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

Additional community support included a free transmission fluid flush from Midas, courtesy of MR Builder, and a one-week gym membership with three group training classes donated by Flex Fitness.

To help make the evening accessible for providers and families, childcare services were also offered during the event.

“Childcare providers are essential to the strength of our workforce and community,” said Mollea Lightner, Assistant Director of Economic Development and representative of the Childcare Coalition of Dodge City. “This event was an opportunity to simply say thank you and recognize the incredible impact these providers have on children and families every single day.”

The Childcare Coalition of Dodge City expressed appreciation to the many businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners who contributed to the event and helped make the evening a success.

National Childcare Provider Appreciation Day is celebrated annually to recognize the commitment, compassion, and hard work of childcare professionals across the country.
